The Thanksgiving holiday (though not without its complications) can be an opportunity to reflect on reasons for gratitude. Many studies have shown that thinking and writing about what we have to be thankful for is good for our own wellbeing and for our relationships with others.
This workshop will begin with a brief opening meditation and a few comments about cultivating gratitude. Then we’ll look at some sample poems and I’ll offer optional prompts for writing gratitude poetry or prose. After time spent writing, we’ll have some time to share with each other (which is always optional). You may even start a piece of writing you decide to share at your Thanksgiving gathering this year, be it in person or virtual.
This relaxed and comfortable workshop is well-suited for writers of all levels and for anyone who wants to invite gratitude into their life amidst the tumult, loss and hardship of contemporary times.
