Poetic Responses to Loss: Elegies and Odes

Grief and appreciation are sometimes the twin offspring of loss, so too with lament and celebration. As poets, we can use the object of our loss (i.e., a loved one, our own health) as the subject of our poem or barely mention it at all, to different effect for ourselves and our readers. In this workshop we’ll look at example poems that respond to loss in various ways.
